Afroconomy uses minimal cookies strictly required for platform operation. These include session cookies to manage authenticated sessions, security tokens to protect against cross-site request forgery (CSRF), and a persistent cookie storing your measurement consent decision. Under ePrivacy and data protection regulations, strictly necessary cookies do not require prior consent because they are essential for service delivery.
2. Performance Measurement and Google Analytics
We utilize Google Analytics to analyze aggregate visitor traffic, reader geography, and section popularity. These analytical scripts are loaded exclusively if you provide voluntary, affirmative consent via our consent banner. When enabled, IP anonymisation is active by default. If you decline measurement, analytical tracking scripts are never downloaded or executed on your client device.
3. Cookie-Free Aggregate Readership Metrics
To evaluate story readership without tracking individuals, Afroconomy measures unique reads using transient, server-side request hashing. A cryptographic hash is calculated from request attributes and rotates every 24 hours. This metric cannot track your activity across multiple days or external websites and deposits no files or cookies on your device.
4. Managing and Revoking Your Consent
You may modify or withdraw your measurement consent at any time via the consent controls in our website footer or by clearing your browser cookies. Withdrawing consent takes immediate effect and prevents any further analytical data collection.
