Editorial and corrections policy

1. Editorial Mission and Independence

Afroconomy delivers fact-based economic journalism, business intelligence, and policy analysis across the African continent. Our newsroom operates with complete editorial autonomy. Commercial partnerships, business directory listings, and advertising bookings exercise no control or influence over our news coverage, headlines, or opinion columns.

2. AI-Assisted Summarisation and Outbound Attribution

To deliver timely coverage across all major African economies, Afroconomy uses automated systems to monitor, filter, and summarise reporting from reputable African and international publications. Every automated news summary is explicitly identified with an AI summary label, clearly names the original news publisher, and provides a direct outbound hyperlink to the source reporting.

3. Algorithmic Guardrails and Mandatory Human Oversight

Our artificial intelligence systems operate under immutable programmatic constraints. The AI is limited to producing attributed news summaries and proposing neutral opinion poll questions. It is barred from opening, evaluating, or clearing election-related polls, and it cannot verify directory listings, issue verified badges, or approve legal takedowns. All election compliance determinations, advertiser approvals, directory verifications, and takedown decisions require human staff review and ratification.

4. Transparent Corrections and Retraction Procedure

When factual errors or misattributions occur, we correct them promptly, openly, and transparently. We do not alter published facts without public disclosure. Corrections are documented directly within the affected article with a clear note explaining the nature and date of the change. Requests for corrections or article takedowns may be submitted using our public form at /legal/removal or sent to hello@afroconomy.com.
