TNPA opens bidding for 25-year East London LNG port project
Tender targets private investment in Eastern Cape energy infrastructure and trade.

Transnet National Ports Authority has launched a competitive tender for a 25-year concession to develop LNG import and handling infrastructure at the Port of East London, transferring capital and operational risk to private investors. The project is intended to support Eastern Cape industrial and energy demand while positioning the port as a gas import gateway, though its viability will depend on securing long-term offtake agreements and aligning with South Africa's evolving gas and energy procurement policy.
